The Westend Regional Sewage Services Commission owns approximately 180 acres of property in the north-east corner of Diamond Valley, Alberta.
In 2009 the Westend fenced off an area inside the perimeter of its property along the Sheep River. Local residents use this beautiful area for hiking, berry picking and as an off-leash area.
A portion of the walking path has been closed to the public (starting in the spring of 2024) for the duration of the construction of the Lagoon Upgrade. This closure is for the safety of animals and people during the construction period, but also to protect bird habitat near the construction area.
